What this software and this website do with information about you.

Last updated 20 August 2026

Your files never reach us. There is no BridgeDrop server for them to reach. Files move directly between the two machines involved, encrypted, and we could not read them or count them if we wanted to.

The application does not report on you. It has no analytics, no telemetry, and no account. Everything it sends is listed below, and the list is short.

What the application sends

That is the complete list. Typefaces, icons and everything else the interface needs are bundled inside the application, so it never fetches assets from anywhere.

When a direct connection is impossible, a transfer can be relayed through a machine that you or the other person chose. A relay carries only ciphertext — it cannot read file contents, names, or sizes.

What stays on your computer

Your transfer history, the devices you have exchanged files with, your device's cryptographic identity, your licence key if you bought one, and a week of diagnostic logs. All of it lives in the application's data folder on your own disk, and none of it is sent anywhere. Open logs under About shows you exactly what the logs contain.

Deleting the application data folder removes all of it permanently.

If you buy a licence

Payment is handled by Stripe on their own checkout page. They receive your card details; we never see them and they never reach this site. We receive your email address and the fact that you paid, so a licence key can be issued and sent to you, and so we can find your purchase if you write in about it.

Your licence key contains your email address and the date it was issued. It is checked on your own machine — the application never contacts us to validate it, which is also why it keeps working with no internet connection.

We keep the record of your purchase for as long as we sell the software, so that a lost key can be reissued.

This website

Hosted on Vercel, which records standard server request logs. There are no cookies, no advertising, no trackers and no analytics script.

This site loads nothing from anywhere else. Even the typefaces are served from this domain rather than a font service, so visiting does not hand your address to a third party. Your browser's network inspector will show requests to bridgedrop.app and nowhere else.

Buying a licence takes you to Stripe, on Stripe's own website. Nothing here loads their code, so they see you only once you have chosen to pay, and what they collect then is covered by their privacy policy.

Your rights

Where the GDPR or similar law applies, you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it corrected, or ask for it deleted. Since the only thing we hold is a purchase record and an email address, that is a short list. Write to privacy@bridgedrop.app and you will get an answer within 30 days.

Deleting a purchase record means a lost licence key can no longer be reissued, so we will say so before doing it.

Children

This software is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date above changes and the previous version stays available on request. We will not begin collecting something new without saying so here first.
